Die <a href="Streuamplitude#Partialwellenentwicklung" title="Streuamplitude">Zerlegung einer Streuamplitude in Partialwellen</a>, d.&nbsp;h. eine <a href="Reihenentwicklung" title="Reihenentwicklung">Reihenentwicklung</a> nach Drehimpulsen, ist sinnvoll vor allem bei Wechselwirkungen mit kurzer Reichweite, wie z.&nbsp;B. der <a href="Starke_Wechselwirkung" title="Starke Wechselwirkung">starken Wechselwirkung</a>. Aufgrund der kurzen Reichweite tragen nämlich für niedrige Energien nur kleine Drehimpulse zur Streuung bei.
